Think of your favorite thing in the whole world. It could be a toy, a pet, a book - anything! Now imagine how you would feel if you lost it. That feeling times about a billion is how God feels about those who haven’t accepted Him yet. Luke 19:10 Jesus said, “For the Son of Man (Jesus) came to seek and to save the lost.” So Jesus came to find all the people who don’t know God. He wants them back! Not matter how good or bad, He wants them to come as they are so they can be his again. God is looking for those who don’t know Him!

Imagine going to the water fountain to fill up your water bottle, and all of a sudden, you’re talking face to face with Jesus! That’s exactly what happened to the woman at the well in the Bible. One day, Jesus decided to visit a town in a place called Samaria. There He met a Samaritan woman who didn’t have any friends because of all the mistakes she had made. One day the woman went to the well with her jar to draw some water. Jesus asked her for some water, and she was so surprised that anyone would want to talk to her.

She didn’t even know that the man she was talking to was actually Jesus until He started telling her all the wrong things she had done. He told her that he is the living water, and that those who drink the water he gives will never be thirsty again. She didn’t know what he meant so she asked him, “how do you get this living water?” Jesus told her that even though she was bad, if she would turn to God and worship Him with all her heart, she could know God. She had heard that Jesus was coming, and when she asked him if He was the son of God and the savior of the world, he replied, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”

This is what the Bible says happened after that conversation: “The woman left her water jar beside the well and ran back to the village, telling everyone, ‘Come and see a man who told me everything I ever did! Do you think he could be the savior of the world that we have been waiting for? ’So the people came streaming from the village to see him... so Many Samaritans from the village believed in Jesus.” We, like the Samaritan woman, have all done things in our life that are bad, but God has accepted us and loved us just the way we are. This encounter with Jesus changed this woman’s life so much that she wanted to tell as many people as she could about it!

Discuss the following questions with your child…

1. Having a relationship with Jesus is the BEST thing you could ever have in life. Do you want others to be able to have that too?

2. Think of all the people you know and friends you have. How many of them don’t know Jesus yet?

3. How many friends can you tell about Jesus this week or invite to church?
