The Bible tells us the true story of how Jesus lived his life, died on the cross, and rose again for us! After that Jesus promised to be with us always and ascended into heaven. That may not make a whole lot of sense - I mean, Jesus said, “I’ll always be with you” and then left. Like, seriously Jesus? You literally just said you’d always be here and you’re leaving?

Thats probably because He meant He would be with us in our hearts. Jesus had told His disciples, “I will ask He will give you another helper, who will never leave you. He is the Holy Spirit, who leads into all truth.” John 14:16-17. And it happened exactly the way Jesus said it would! The Holy Spirit came upon the disciples and they started telling everyone about Jesus! And now, even today, the Holy Spirit is at work in our lives helping us live our lives for God!

God has always been really good about taking care of His people. After Moses led the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt, it was time to find a new person to lead the people of Israel. God chose Joshua and told him, “No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live. For I will be with you as I was with Moses. I will never leave you nor forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5). Us today are a lot like the people of Israel, since we have been led out of spiritual slavery to sin just like they were led out of slavery in Egypt. And the promise that God will always be with us is the same too!

Discuss the following questions with your child…

1. Have you ever asked the Holy Spirit to fill you? If you haven’t, you should!

2. How can we listen to the Holy Spirit’s voice in our lives?

3. How do you know if Jesus is speaking to you through the Holy Spirit?
