THE MEANING OF EASTER
The Bible tells us the true story of how Jesus lived his life, died on the cross, and rose again for us! Jesus is the son of God and the Savior of the world! While He was on earth, He taught everyone about God’s love and healed them from their sickness. He did many miracles like calming storms and raised people from the dead. But not everyone liked Him, so the religious leaders of that day made a plan to kill him. But Jesus, knowing that it was time to give His life, willingly died on the cross. Not because He had done anything wrong, but because He was giving his life as a sacrifice - taking the punishment for our sins on himself.
Three days later though, He rose from the dead! This proved that He was God’s son and meant that if we make Him our Lord, then we will rise again one day to to live forever in Heaven! And that is the meaning of Easter - it is the day we celebrate all of these things that Jesus has done for us. We celebrate His resurrection from death, and the life that we have as His followers.
JESUS MADE A WAY
Through Jesus, we have a way to be saved! No matter how good or how bad you are, you can go to heaven if you believe in Jesus! Doing this is as simple as ABC…
A – Ask – For Jesus to forgive you.
B – Believe - That Jesus died and rose from the dead three days later
C – Confess – that you have done wrong so that you can be forgiven.
Discuss the following questions with your child…
1. Have you ever asked Jesus to forgive you? And if not, would you like to?
2. Why did Jesus have to die on the cross?
3. What do you think it will be like when we rise again like Jesus did in heaven?
